Video Transcript Hello, everyone. I'm Joshua Clement with Lighty Contractors. And today, I'm to talk to you about how to install wiring for ceiling fans and lights. For this job, we're going to be using a razor blade, electrical tape, a pair of wire cutters and some wire nuts. First thing you want to do, is remove the protective sleeve from the wiring.

Now, I have two different types of wires here, one, is a three gauge wire and the other is a four gauge wire. If you're wanting to run your lights and your fans on separate switches, you're going to want to use the three gauge wire. Which is a black wire, a ground wire, a white wire, and a red wire. In your two wire, you have a black wire and a white wire. You'll use this if you want to put your ceiling fan and your light on the same switch. First thing you're going to do, is just go through and strip the wires about a half inch. Next, we're going to take our white wire and wire nut them together.
